Pakistani banks will not treat your personal wallet as a company account once you start invoicing clients under a registered name. To open a proper business or corporate account you normally need a legal entity, an NTN, and a short set of company papers. This guide sets out the usual order of steps, the documents banks already ask founders for, and how a registered office plus a workspace in Islamabad make the process smoother.
What do you need before you visit a bank?
Most startups first incorporate with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan through its eServices portal. That usually means reserving a company name, then filing the memorandum and articles of association with director details and CNIC copies. A single-member private limited company is a common choice for a solo founder; a private limited company with more than one member suits co-founders.
SECP's own incorporation guidance is to complete this online through eServices where you can. After you receive the certificate of incorporation, register the company on FBR's IRIS portal to obtain its National Tax Number. Banks want that NTN before they open the account.
TheWing.pk's company-registration notes already match what relationship managers request in practice: the incorporation certificate, the NTN, a board resolution authorising the account and naming the signatories, and the directors' identity documents. Bring original CNICs and keep scanned copies. Some branches also ask for a company stamp, letterhead, and proof of the registered office address.
Why does the registered office matter?
SECP requires every company to have a registered office. Banks use that address when they verify the business. If you still work from home, or you live in Rawalpindi and do not want your house on every form, a professional business address is often the missing piece. TheWing.pk offers a virtual office and business address that can be used for SECP correspondence, with mail and parcel handling on site.
Having somewhere to take a bank officer's call, print a resolution or scan a CNIC on the same day also helps. Our centre is at Central Mall, 2nd Floor, GT Road, DHA Phase 2, Islamabad, next to Giga Mall, about 20 minutes from Saddar, Rawalpindi.
What happens after the account is open?
Use the business account for client invoices and supplier payments so personal and company money stay separate. That cleaner trail makes FBR filing and later investor checks much easier. If you receive foreign remittances, ask the bank how they issue a proceeds realisation certificate and what they need from you each time.
If you later expand to the UK, a Pakistani company account does not replace a UK account. The two sit alongside each other. TheWing.pk can introduce UK company formation through our partner AccoTax, while you keep your Pakistan team on this floor.
Desks here start at PKR 1,750 for a day pass and PKR 31,800 a month for a hot desk. A dedicated desk is PKR 36,400 a month, with a complimentary 30-minute tax consultation. Teams of three can take a private pod from PKR 81,600 a month, which includes a virtual office address. Power backup and dual-ISP fibre are included, so you are not waiting out load-shedding when the bank emails for another document.
Book a free tour if you want to see the space, ask about company registration or a virtual office, and use your first day on us. Bring the papers you already have and we will tell you what is still missing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a business account without a company?
Some banks offer freelancer or sole-proprietor accounts against an individual NTN. Once you invoice in a company name, they will ask for SECP documents.
How long does it take?
Incorporation and the NTN come first; the branch then completes its own checks. Timelines vary by bank, so ask yours for a current checklist rather than a promised number of days.
Do I need to visit in person?
Many banks still want at least one authorised signatory to visit a branch with original documents. Call ahead so you do not make two trips.
